Here’s a note to the girls at the bar,
just something to say how beautiful they are.
I know it’s not an alcoholic haze,
it’s their beauty that’s left me in a daze.
One has dark hair and one is a blond.
I wish I were a prince or a sorcerer with a magic wand,
for if I were a braver man, I’d take a chance
and ask one of them for a dance.
~ Later ~
Some more lyrics to the girls at the bar,
they think they’re sexier than they really are.
Maybe this poem would be complete
if I said a word about their conceit!
~ Even Later ~
They both got drunk, and one got mad
about losin the attention of a man she’d had.
~ Much Later ~
Now develops a shocking sight
when these two beauties begin to fight
with teeth and nails and sounds so harsh,
like a bobcat fight in a Louisiana marsh.
Now, that reminds me of what my dad used to say,
and it’s a truth that goes this way.
“When you find a beauty, you may wanna keep her,
but beauty’s shallow and ugly’s deeper.”
I guess that beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes all the way to the bone

My wife had gone to North Carolina to have Thanksgiving Dinner with her father’s aunt. I was heading North out of Savanna with another load and running hard with another driver. Our conversations had been of family and Holiday plans, then of other trucker subjects.
During a break in our chatting, a lady asked me why I was in such a hurry. “I have a date with a married woman.”, was my answer. That lady called me everything but human, I reckon she was a Bible Thumper from the Old South. When she stopped to take a breath, I said, “Well, ma’am, I’ve been with her before, she’s already had two of my babies!”. That set her off on an even worse tirade.
The other trucker, listening in finally quit laughing enough to ask me, “How long you been married to that woman yer dating?” “Just about 4 years, now.” , I replied. I never heard any more from that lady, either.

I was heading down to Savanna, Ga to pick up a load going to Washington State, pulling a trailer with a Radioactive placard . Over the CB, I heard a sweet voice asking, “What does that sticker on your trailer mean?”. After assuring myself that she meant my trailer I said, “Oh that just means I use my CB a lot.” That musta satisfied her, I didn’t hear any more from her.

At this time of year, this is worth seeing. Show this picture to your spouse, your kids, your grandkids, and your friends. It could save their lives. Remember what this spider looks like and be careful when cleaning.
It's summertime and cleaning is going on. Be careful where you put your hands. They like dark spaces and wood piles. Also, cool spaces in the attic.
The brown recluse spider is the most dangerous spider we have in the USA. A person could die from its bite. Everyone should know what the spiderlooks like. Send this around to people you love because it's almost summertime.
People will be digging around and doing yard work, spring cleaning, and cleaning out their sheds. They like the darkness and tend to live in storage sheds and attics (all places that are dark and not frequented by people.)
Please be careful and have a safe spring cleaning.
The County Cleanup is asking that people DONT bring tires.
...Sondra and Rod P.
Unfortunately there is no award, but if there were, Sondra and Rod P would have won it hands down! They worked extremely hard on the Mulligan Stew that was absolutely delicious!
A BIG THANK YOU to you two for taking the time and efforts on making the Mulligan Stew Potluck a very enjoyable and filling time. You two are a treasure. The potluck was held on March 16th.
Sherry is scheduled to be released from the rehab hospital on Friday, March 15. It will be necessary for her to spend most of the time in bed for some weeks, but at least she will be at home in more comfortable surroundings.
If you've ever lost a long-time pet, you know how devastating it can be. I was just informed that Creek Mary lost her dog/friend Maggie of 11 years. Mary is having a terrible time and could use some cheering up from her Armadillo friends. Keep her in your thoughts.
Last December there was an amazing presentation about the Journey back to Bethlehem experience on Farm Road 920 by the big sculpture of Jesus on Dry Creek Road.

For those who do not know, on Feb. 21 Sherry had surgery on her left foot to repair damage due to osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. There was bone fusion and bone grafting as well as having screws and staples put in bones. The doctor told her she would not be able to put any weight on the foot for 2-3 months and recommended a device called a knee walker, which is like the scooters we rode as kids, with handlebars, but four wheels instead of two and a seat to rest her knee. She ordered one and it got here before the surgery. She stayed in the hospital overnight and came home the next day. In a few days she was getting around pretty well on the scooter. On Wednesday, Feb. 27, the doctor removed her soft cast, as swelling had gone down, and put on a hard cast. After we got home, she came into the living room and somehow fell off the scooter. She was hurting badly, so an ambulance was called and she was taken to Weatherford Regional Hospital, where she was found to have a broken hip on the left. The afternoon of Feb. 28, surgery was performed and a metal rod and pin were implanted to repair the break. The doctor reported all went well with the surgery and there should be a good, but lengthy recovery, which will be complicated because it is on the same side as her foot surgery. There will be some inpatient rehab involved, but right now the time line is uncertain. Any thoughts and prayers will be greatly appreciated.
